Ok, so here is where I am so far.
1) I'm all wired up and I'mpretty sure everything is correct in that area.
2) I've installed Arduino 1.6.0 on windows and downloaded marlin from
github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/wiki3) Opened up marlin.ino in Arduino and looked at Configuration.h where it said,
"// For a Delta printer replace the configuration files with the files in the
// example_configurations/delta directory.
"
I copied them over and replaced the original ones.
4) re-opened marlin.ino and looked at configuration.h
5) The next step is I assume to make sure the correct board is selected (RAMPS Sheild
forum.hobbycomponents.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=1401)6) looking at boards.h I can see:
#define BOARD_RAMPS_13_EFB 33 // RAMPS 1.3 / 1.4 (Power outputs: Extruder, Fan, Bed)
#define BOARD_RAMPS_13_EEB 34 // RAMPS 1.3 / 1.4 (Power outputs: Extruder0, Extruder1, Bed)
#define BOARD_RAMPS_13_EFF 35 // RAMPS 1.3 / 1.4 (Power outputs: Extruder, Fan, Fan)
#define BOARD_RAMPS_13_EEF 36 // RAMPS 1.3 / 1.4 (Power outputs: Extruder0, Extruder1, Fan)
This I am assuming here since I have 1 extruder/headbed and fan (+XYZ) I use
#define BOARD_RAMPS_13_EFB
In confuguration.h I have:
#ifndef MOTHERBOARD
#define MOTHERBOARD BOARD_RAMPS_13_EFB
#endif
So I think this is correct.
7) Selected:
#define POWER_SUPPLY 2
as I am using a computer power pack not atx (like you get on laptop) plugged into ramps via the 5A section (see diagram on
hobbycomponents.com//images/forum/RAMPS_Pololu_Connections.png).
Ok at this stage it looks like all the other config settings are to do with the movement/calibration etc so I thought I would upload it and see if I get any response from the unit.
8) In arduino I clicked file>save
9) Clicked verify build (no errors)
10) Clicked upload .... Uploads fine.
My question is now, how do I know if this has worked? The LCD display is on but just shows #################
I would have thought (correct me if I'm wrong as I'm winging this by reading multiple help files online) that at this stage the LCD display would display something and the printer would show some sign of life.
Again any help is appreciated (I'll also send this to richard at sumpod to see if he can help).
