Hi, I finished building the machine and have managed to get all the axis to home correctly. I then went to find a initial print of Thingiverse sliced it with Slic3r using and then tried to print it with Repetier Host. I now have two problems:
1.)The bed homes to the bottom as it should, but when it brings itself up to the print head it only raises to about halfway and will try to print leaving about 10cm of empty space. I have to then pause the print and manually turn the screw thread up to the correct height.
2.) The molten plastic either doesn't come out or it come out of the nozzle but sticks to the nozzle and balls up on the end of it leading to it smearing on the print bed.
I am using PLA with an extruder temperature of around 190C.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please check that you have a constant stream of molten plastic first before running GCODE on bed. Maybe best to run it with the bed set lower first by removing any homing commands from the gcode.
