This thread is only for those unfortunate souls who have had a less than satisfactory experience with Richard Sum or Sumpod Ltd - I recognise he may have a good deal of delighted customers who are more than happy with the product, its performance and indeed the way he conducts himself, if you are one of those lucky people, i can only request you dont hijack this thread and recognise there are equally a number of people who are looking for recompense and it is only these folk this applies to
The good news is that Richard Sum hasnt been operating within the guidelines for running an Incorporated company, as such theres a good chance you can take him personally to court - the bad news however is that Richard Sum may well be penniless and the only satisfaction you can hope for is personal bankruptcy. By all accounts he lives in a property owned by a Housing Association, so it is unlikely he has any means whatsoever.
on the one hand it is commendable he has created a product (albeit lacking any real quality) whilst living on the breadline, and if we were in America I guess we'd suggest he's living the dream, on the other hand I've heard from a good number of people (mainly found on his now deleted Facebook page) who are owed thousands of pounds. So whilst we may rejoice in how he has dragged himself upwards, he has done so by effectively stealing from people, a number of these were foreign customers and that somehow doesnt make me feel wildly proud about being a Brit!
My personal issue was that I was foolish enough to accept mediation and agreed to his suggestion that he would repair my machine on the 16th January, whilst time was running out for presenting paperwork at court on the 21st.. I didnt bother because I believed he would do as agreed... the case was struck out and he still has my machine... worse still he has gloated and seemed proud of his actions ever sine. Thankfully the Mediator who felt equally aggrieved has supported my reinstatement of this case.
I realise that not everyone enjoys the publicity of a forum, so if you wish to bring this thief and fraudster to task, please email me on scumbuster@scumpod.com - I appreciate the name is a bit strong but I make no apologies, anyone that gleefully steals money is scum, pure and simple
In suggesting this I'm hoping anyone that has an issue can resolve it confidentially without the harassment of 'others'
Finally, you may think I'm putting a little too much effort into this particular scourge on society - but some people have given this guy money they have worked hard for, if you think thats ok or appropriate, then I'm sorry... for you.

Due to constant harassment and false posts I will now enter the fray.
I have no problem in sorting out some of the problems that have beset the business and I am in the process of doing that.
Without revealing scums real name this is the story of his machine.
He took delivery of the machine after a delay on the 26th June 2013. He contacted on the 1st July saying parts were missing. We duly sent the missing parts on the same day and he received them the next day by UPS.
4 weeks later he sent a list of other missing parts having "nearly completed" the build. This was unfortunate but even though four weeks had passed I said I would send the parts after first seeing a couple of photos. The reason for this is that one of the parts missing was the electronics.
In the same email, this was Monday, I said due to the refit I couldn't send the parts the same day like before, as they packed away, but would send them by the end of the week.
The electronics were shown in the photo. When this was pointed out unfortunately scum got angry but after a call calmed down. Given the cost of the missing parts, some which could have gone missing in the 4 weeks given how small they were, I said I would send them once the unit was back in business.
Scum then badgered me for a couple of days till Thursday. When I hadn't yet sent them, as the unit was being plastered etc, he started getting quite abusive. Really abusive. Remember he had already checked the machine parts 4 weeks prior and had signed for the missing parts. It ended with him wanting to take me to court. I should have just sent the parts but given the abuse decided wrongly not to.
fast forward the beginning of January when I agreed to mediation. The agreement was for scum to send back the machine and I to add the missing parts and send back.
My thought was there was only a few parts missing and he had already spent a month building it.
Unfortunately what turned up was a machine with only a few parts attached, with all the steel parts, even the bearings rusty. I did only get looking at it after a few days of receiving it as it was sent over a week after we made the agreement. I was expecting it sooner.
I contacted mediation regarding the delays due to getting new parts for the rusted parts, but couldn't get through. So I contacted the chap who was dealing with the machine, not scum. He agreed that the state of the machine wasn't ideal. I explained it would take longer due to having to completely strip down the machine. Also I had stopped selling this machine so things such as rack were now not the same and would need to be made specially.
The chap dealing with it, not scum, was very helpful.
A couple of weeks later and I have the parts. I had thought I was getting them sooner but I didn't. Anyway I spoke to mediation who understood and also to the "guy dealing with the machine, not scum". Everything was ok for the machine to be sent back Thursday, all agreed.
Unfortunately scum then came back on the scene. He then started throwing threats around. He also stated that he had put the case on hold. I duly informed him that he hadn't. The case had been struck off due to lack of payment, but that was ok because I was going to send the machine back as agreed with his colleague.
Unfortunately scum doesn't like being caught in a lie. Duly reinstating the court (he has to reapply like everyone else, although he will state others back him up, maybe they do). Cue lots of shouting, registering domains and generally trying to cause trouble.
Now I know things for some haven't gone well and these are being sorted out. You can email or phone and we can talk.
The main thing is that I have now gotten proper help so the other type of problems should quickly be sorted and maybe SUMPOD will get to the place it should have been many years ago.
People who call, email, or visit can usually get the problems resolved.
Robert was very helpful but as I said there was no point.

As I say, this thread is only really for those disgruntled customers of Richard Sum, while there may be many happy and thoroughly satisfied users, they can sing the praises of this particular product (or man) on a different thread.
Further, my situation will be decided by a District Judge, not Richard, 'Robert' or even me.... all this tittle-tattle doesnt really resolve much. My aim is to inform people they can actually sue Richard Sum (if that is their wish) and not Sumpod Ltd.
I should add that Im sure Richard is a welcome contrubutor to a Forum in his honour, seems a shame that he didnt stick around and help a few users who have build or usability issues, instead of merely playing the victim card.... again

I have logged a complaint today with Actionfraud.police.uk today on the advice of citizens advice consumer line and trading standards. I have supplied them with as much information that I could gather. Maybe it would be worth a call Richard Scum if you haven't already done this. I received a crime number and was informed that they are taking it very seriously. Strength in numbers folks.

Sumpod website says ( march 2014) only 5 ( or 4 ) outstanding orders... There seem to be more than that here. . Iwonder if richards definition of delivered differs from ours.
His website listed my order completed before it was collected by carrier. .. And from reading here ( and my experience)..a delivered kit is not always as ordered ( or complete) ... But don't stress if you do recieve your kit..the revised website probably no longer carries build details for your ( maybe obsolete) model... And since richard was selling off the kit to machine the mdf models chances of a delivery of that model might be slight... ..

Hi Jason, Im very sure I will never receive a printer in any form from Richard. I was told that due to my manner of speaking/texting him I had now been put down to the bottom of the list!! It seems that I am being punished like a child for expecting goods I have paid for to arrive. I can assume that there is a very long list but as all I want now is to save others from the pain and my money back one way or the other being put down in his list is of no great shakes to me. I plod on in my quest to take this rip off merchant down!

I am also awaiting a Mega. I called the courier company today to find out if they have picked it up (from the tracking number supplied to me) and they said no. I would like to get Richards direct phone number if someone can please provide for me.

He answered the one on his website to me last week www.sumpod.com. Helps if you ring from a number that you haven't contacted him on before as he thinks it might be a new paying customer. Also try 07701 098950.

Now thats odd... I just emailed Ricky to say that some colleagues of mine were popping in to pick up my machine and he said he was calling the police over my threat?
He's incredibly defensive... I can't think why?

I know the funny little fella reads these forums (perversely self indulgent as he is) - has he stopped to think what the cost of loss in revenue these negative posts cost? I mean sure, I have no doubt he's still suckering people in to paying for printers (I say paying, I dont mean eventually supplying!), but I wonder what the percentage is thats done a little Googling first off and be scared by these reports?....... think about it Ricky... think about it.

Hold out hope folks! I kid you not... DRUMROLL PLEASE....... today 364 days since we ordered, the parcel company have delivered the world most complicated flat pack i have ever seen. Lets hope all of the bits are there. I have filmed the unpacking so I can prove if something is missing that it was not included. I still strongly believe that Richard is conning people from what he is advertising on his site as to what actually turns up. I urge all of you that still have no printer to contact Actionfraud, trading standards, the press etc. As I believe the only way to get this man to sit up and listen is to publicly shame him. I will continue to help those of you whom I have contacted as it is important that there are no more victims. Even though I have a what I hope to be a printer that works, 12 months and being called hysterical amongst other things for contacting him to enquire is a disgrace.
