Hi,
I am nearing completion of my basic build, but I am about to calibrate, and I see that there is no way I'm going to get the build platform close to the extruder.
It gets to within 1 or 2 cms before hitting the underside of the extruder stepper motor.
Does this sound right?
Cheers,
James

Have you already mounted the hotend?

Yes, the hot end protrudes a little bit from the underside of the Y carriage, but not much

I had made my hot end wrong, so it wasn't sticking down quite far enough.
Also had to rotate the extruder motor so the wires were not sticking out from the downward facing side, but instead came out the side.
Now the nozzle can easily touch the plate.
Since the forum is a bit slow, I contacted Richard directly who was able to put me right.

Maybe, you could make the hotend like before. so you will have more room when you build a spring loaded build platform... I´ve done this. It is much easier to level the bed.
